Chevalier Grinding Spindle Repair Case Study
We received the Chevalier Grinding Spindle from a customer after it was no longer producing parts with the accuracy needed. It seems the bearings were beginning to fail, showing it by producing excessive vibration while running. A member of our team of Spindle Technicians disassembled and inspected the spindle. There was excessive wear to the O.D. Taper, which was sent out for Chrome and Grind work. The Housing Nut was damaged, which our Spindle Tech returned to specification. New Seals, O-rings, and Steel Angular Contact Bearings were ordered to replace the old damaged ones. Once all parts were received at our facility, a Skilled Spindle Technician (with an average of 20+ years experience repairing spindles) rebuilt the Chevalier Spindle. The Spindle was then balanced and test run for several hours, to make sure the spindle held up, and was running smoothly. We are confident that this spindle will produce accurate finishes on its parts for a long time to come.
