A Makino A61nx was sent to us by a customer, because the spindle was locked up. The A61nx is a motorized, oil lubricated spindle that is almost identical to the A61, except it runs at much higher speeds. Ceramic bearings are used, because of the high RPMs these spindles operate at. Once disassembled, this spindle was cleaned and inspected. Our Spindle Technician discovered that the bearings had failed, which caused the Makino Spindle to lock up. The motor winding and other electronic components were tested and were found to be in good working condition. The spindle was reassembled with new precision ceramic bearings, as well as new seals and o-rings to contain the oil lubrication. One of our skilled Spindle Technicians, with an average of 20 years experience, test ran and balanced this spindle. The end result was a smooth running high speed spindle, that is sure to run well for years to come.
