Identify theft? We currently have a competitor, whom I will keep nameless, but sounds a lot like “Inferior Spindle”, that is spending money on a Google adds using our exact company name “DBA”, Motor City Spindle. It’s been going on now for over 6 months.
At first I was outraged! Is this legal?! It’s certainly not ethical in my opinion.
After calming down, I started to think about what this says about them and what it says about us.
A reputation so bad that’s its better to market a competitor’s name and hope people don’t figure it out?
A reputation so good that the amount of online traffic they get is worth the risk of Catfishing people on line?
Call it what you will, but mostly it’s dishonest. Any service based business is built on trust. Decieving people into believing you are someone else isn’t exactly a great introduction.
This doesn’t feel like flattery. Am I being too sensitive?
What would you do if you were me?
