A Heald Red Head Grinding Spindle was received a few months ago at our repair facility. The spindle was badly worn, and the bearings were clearly shot. Our spindle technicians quickly disassembled it, noting the damage it had on the of the front pilot ID. The parts were thoroughly cleaned and marked. After the Job was quoted and approved by the customer, the shaft was send out for the Pilot ID to be chrome and ground. Once the grind work was sent back to us, one of our six highly experienced spindle technicians reassembled the spindle. New precision angular contact ball bearings were used to replace the failed bearings. The spindle was balanced with tedious accuracy by our spindle technicians, and then ran for several hours at maximum RPM, to ensure the precision and quality of the repair. The end result was a high speed grinding spindle that worked as good as new for our customer.
