Origin of Omlat
Who is Omlat?
At a young age, Salvatore Munnia, who was born in Switzerland in 1911, began working in the mechanical industry. After moving to Italy and spending many years developing his craft and understanding the industry, he established the Omlat company in 1940. He began his business with only one single grinding machine and one lathe. Fast forward 80 years and it is a worldwide company within the CNC spindle and electrospindle business.
What is an electrospindle?
A spindle is the heart and soul of any CNC machine tool. An electrospindle is a rotating shaft. Its main purpose is to rotate the tool and produce motion which will in turn produce chips.
What range of spindles does Omlat produce?
Omlat produces spindles for many different types of machines including milling, grinding, turning, wood/aluminum, and marble/glass.
