Jeff Carter – The Spindle Guru
Motor City Spindle Repair Owner / Spindle Room Leader, Jeff Carter has been building CNC spindles for over 25 years and is truly a spindle guru. JeffĀ has over 27+ years experience remanufacturing, manufacturing, and rebuilding CNC machine tool spindles. He has worked for two of the largest spindle OEMs in North America (former Pope Corporation Spindle Technician (Setco purchased the Pope Corporation in 2003).
Rich Griffith – The Spindle Master
Rich Griffith is a true leader for our team at Motor City Spindle Repair. He has been rebuilding machine tool spindles for 33+ years. He was also a Former Pope Corporation Spindle Technician and worked with Jeff Carter and James Hall. His vast knowledge of all types of CNC machine tool spindles ranges from machining center, turning center, grinding and just about any type of spindle operating in the field today. Although he can rebuild just about any spindle to OEM specifications, Rich admits his specialty is rebuilding motorized machining center spindles.
James “Jimmy” Hall – The Spindle Handler
Former Pope Corporation Spindle Technician with over 27 years of experience, Jimmy is our Spindle Technician in our Spindle Room who handles his spindle business! Jimmy travels around the USA and handles our customers by assessing their units and then pulling them and hand delivering them back to our facility for the necessary repair or rebuild.
John Wilson – The Million Dollar Man
Former Owner of OHG Spindle Repair, John Wilson is a lead CNC spindle assembly technician at Motor City Spindle Repair. John was given the title “Million Dollar Man” as he was the first employee on our team in 2017 to rebuild $1 million in CNC spindle repairs in a year. John has over a 13+ years experience in building spindles, tear down and inspection, generating failure analysis reports, test running spindles, and operating one of our machine tools in our tool room.
David Riopelle – The Spindle Slayer
Former Colonial Spindle Technician David Riopelle has 14+ years experience as a Spindle Technician and slays in our Spindle Room. His experience with building high-precision motor spindle units is invaluable to Motor City!
Ian Nash – “The Master Builder”
Former #KesslerUSA (a former German spindle OEM) Spindle Technician and Spindle Room Manager Ian Nash has over 7+ years of experience in #spindlemanufacturing and is technically one of the best Spindle Assemblers in the world!Ā Ian is our Expert on the Machine Shop floor and works next to a shop full of highly experienced staff members (26 and growing) who have extensive experience with spindle manufacturing and spindle repair.

We specialize in Grinding Services for HMC/VMCs, Turning Centers, Grinding Machines, and other Precision Spindle Applications.
Our unique machining and grinding capabilities allow us to cut grind-plate-grind time down in half for spindle components such as: Capto, HSK, ISO, BT, CAT, SK Tapers, Pilot I.D.s, Front and Rear Bearing Journals, Housing Bores, Draw Bar Shafts, Splines + more.
We have several Manual Grinders and high performance CNC Universal Grinding machines in our 4,000sf Grinding Room which allows us to grind the most diverse of configuration options.
While some repair facilities are incapable of grinding and repairing high end precision spindles, we are able to do both well because of our advanced machinery.
